I have loved you, says the Lord.
The Old Testament closes with God’s people waiting — but the story is not finished.
Malachi speaks to a spiritually weary people whose worship has become half-hearted and whose trust in God has faded.
God calls them back to wholehearted faithfulness and promises that a messenger will come to prepare the way before Him.
Then the Old Testament becomes quiet.
But it ends looking forward.
